Bughead Hooks Up Again at Judheads Trailer
Non only have nosotros made it to the end of Rivervale, but we've also made it to Riverdale's 100th episode! And things are getting ... complicated.
This week'south episode kicks off with pretty much everyone returning from the dead and thinking that their death was all office of a bad dream. And so there's Jughead, who somehow dreams of the explosion at Archie'due south house that ... never happened in this universe.
When Jug arrives at schoolhouse later that forenoon — information technology'due south his starting time day back every bit a teacher — everything feels off. Cheryl'due south in her cheerleading uniform, and Ben Button is in the bathroom. (Reminder: Ben Button threw himself out a window in the proper name of the Gargoyle King).
As for Archie and Betty, well, they're getting married. Oh, and the weirdest thing? Betty gets a telephone call from Dr. Curdle Jr. informing her that he'south looking at Jughead's corpse! Welcome to the paradox.
It seem the Jughead no. 2 was found strangled along the Lonely Highway, so Jughead does what he does best: He starts investigating his ain expiry. And his investigation leads him to the Riverdale (and Rivervale) comics. He starts reading from the beginning.
Jughead quickly figures out that the explosion at Archie's house is what put an end to Riverdale and thereby birthed Rivervale. It seems they're parallel universes — Rivervale serving as a warped reflection of Riverdale.
Jughead shares this news with everyone, every bit they start to vaguely remember some of the Riverdale stories. Betty remembers Archie dreaming about an explosion, but they don't empathize how Hiram planted the bomb, because in Rivervale, Hiram's dead!

Some other Rivervale twist? JJ is alive! And I swear this is the beginning time I've ever heard him talk.
Likewise alive are Dilton Doiley and Ethel, who work together education physics at the school. It seems Dilton is a bit of an practiced on parallel universes and he tells Jug to driblet it. Apparently there are an infinite number of parallel universes in a peaceful existence, and if Jug is trying to find a fashion to separate these ii, he could ruin everything.
While Archie'southward bummed that his dad can't be at his hymeneals, JJ is kidnapped past the Black Hood. And unlike in Riverdale, the Black Hood mystery lasts about five minutes considering Jughead uses his knowledge to save JJ and Sheriff Keller shoots him immediately. (It was Clifford Blossom, so, still a dad.)
Then, at Betty and Archie's rehearsal dinner, they find out that Cheryl's been strangled. Now, Jug is more determined than ever to sniff out Rivervale's big bad.
Could information technology be Dilton? That's what Jug is thinking when he goes to Dilton and finds out that he has no interest in separating the universes. Right now, they're on rail to expand into each other and Dilton has a front row seat! Dilton volition happily watch people die to witness such a affair. Just Ethel has another idea.
In some other Riverdale callback, Ethel poisons Dilton. She's non willing to let everyone in either universe dice, and she knows of a way to save Riverdale (but just Riverdale).
While Veronica comes home to discover out the Reggies are every bit idiotic and both died facing each other in a duel, Ethel explains that they have to recreate Rivervale'due south birth, otherwise known equally Archie and Betty'due south chamber explosion. Jughead's proposal: He and Veronica, every bit counterparts to Archie and Betty, handle it. Every bit Veronica puts information technology, "Let'southward make out to save the universe."
Just when Jug goes to meet Veronica at Archie'due south house — during Archie and Betty's wedding ceremony, I might add together — it's Archie who shows up. It seems Archie is Rivervale's big bad, because he admits to killing Veronica, Cheryl, and the other Jughead. His reasoning? No one stays dead in this universe, so they'll be back. In that moment, Jughead figures out that this has all been well-nigh Archie'due south dad.
Archie claims he was at ground zero for the nascence of Rivervale and he knows what it'southward capable of. And he needs for information technology to give him another chance with his dad.
When Archie and Jughead start fighting, Curvation is most to strangle Jughead when Betty shoots him. You don't go out a Cooper woman continuing at the modify.
Betty and Jughead then head upstairs to recreate the moment, but but as they kiss, the other Jughead walks in! Confused yet?!
Jughead no. two claims he has a way to split the universes without destroying Rivervale. Information technology's something he learned from a comic he read when he died and went to the dandy Pop's Brimming'lit Shoppe in the sky. (I bet those milkshakes are heavenly! Sorry.)
All Rivervale needs to survive is a new power source to fuel information technology. His suggestion? Imagination. It's limitless and anointed. And so, Rivervale needs a story generator, and what is Jughead if not a story generator who rarely showers? If he writes, Rivervale lives, and it stops leaching off Riverdale. But here'southward the catch: He can never stop writing and he has to be in total isolation. There can't be ii Jugheads.
So, Betty sets Rivervale'southward Jughead up with a typewriter in the bunker and seals him in. And so, she returns to Archie'south chamber with Jughead no. 2, but the flop doesn't go off. Because Jughead wrote it that way. As he writes it, the residents of Rivervale are costless to resume their lives. Betty is dorsum with Archie, and Jughead is back with Tabitha.
At present, Rivervale exists in an countless time loop as long as Jug keeps typing. As for Riverdale, we flash back to the moment simply earlier Hiram'south bomb went off. But this time, Betty gets a phone call warning her to get out of the house because there's a bomb under the bed.
The episode ends with Riverdale's Jughead waking up in Archie's garage when all the windows explode.
All in all, I have to say I enjoyed the 100th episode. It was entirely crazy, merely that'south what Riverdale is. And I'm a sucker for callbacks and meta humor of whatsoever kind, and so this was all very up my aisle. That beingness said, I don't sympathize how at that place was another Jughead at the end? Was Jughead no. two in Rivervale NOT Riverdale'due south Jug? Okay, I take to stop saying Jug at present.
